For my first job shadow, I contacted Lindsay Boxberger from High Touch Technologies. Lindsay is a Web Development Supervisor. While shadowing Lindsay, I was able to see how a marketing degree is used in the workplace. Lindsay is in charge of High Touches’ social medias and websites. She makes daily posts, and is charge of making advertisements. Lindsay has the capabilities to see how many people view, and click on things for the website. It was really fascinating to analyze what advertisements drew more interactions. Along with shadowing Lindsay, I got to shadow Christina Carter, a graphic design intern. Christina makes all of the graphics that Lindsay uses on the website and social media. Christina explained how she got the internship, and showed me all the things that she designs. This really made me interested in getting an internship while in school. Christina also shared some ideas on how to attain scholarships, and opportunities that are offered at different Universities from Christina. I really think this is a career field that I could see myself in. It involved technology, and people contact, two things I am looking for in a career.

I contacted Sam Futhey at Kanokla Design Studio for my second job shadow. To begin, Sam explained the different softwares that he works with to produce videos. Next, he explained the role that a drone plays in his job. We then went around town and shot drone footage. This was my favorite part of the day. He showed me how to fly the drone, and explained that you have to have a license to fly commercially. After we gathered the pictures needed, we returned to his office to edit the Basketball Substate video. He also showed me how to make stop-motion videos. Lastly, we took the camera out on mainstreet and shot some videos and pictures. Overall, I gathered a great sense of the everyday life of a videographer. Although everything was really interesting, I can’t see myself going into this career due to the lack of people contact. |
